Build a wardrobe that works together

Plan clothing around your routine, coordinate colours and build repeatable outfits with this practical wardrobe guide.

Begin with your weekly routine

List the situations you dress for most often: work, travel, errands, gatherings and time at home. Note which clothes already serve those situations well and which gaps repeatedly cause difficulty. A wardrobe plan should reflect your life rather than a fixed list of must-have purchases.

Choose a small coordinating palette

Start with colours you already wear comfortably. Select a few base colours that combine well, then use one or two accents if you enjoy them. A limited palette is a planning tool, not a rule: the goal is to make outfit decisions easier while keeping your preferences.

Build complete combinations

Before adding an item, identify at least two outfits using clothes and shoes you own. Consider proportions as well as colour. A loose top may work well with a straighter lower half, while a structured layer can change the feel of a simple outfit. Try combinations rather than judging pieces in isolation.

Balance care with how often you wear it

Check whether the item’s washing and drying needs fit your schedule. A piece requiring specialist care may be a good occasional choice but inconvenient for frequent wear. Read the clothing care guide and consider whether you can realistically follow the label.

Review before buying more

Photograph combinations you enjoy or keep a short outfit list. At the end of a week, note which pieces you repeatedly reached for and why. Repair useful items where practical, and address a clear gap before adding another near-duplicate. The most versatile wardrobe is one you can comfortably use.
